This cathedral is the best example of the French influence in Saigon. It's hard to believe that it's more than 100 years old given how well it looks. You could spend a few hours in the area - in the park up front, visit the post office that's right next door, eat at one of the many cafes nearby or just watch people. There was a wedding taking place when I went. It was lovely watching two people get married in the Cathedral with their vows exchanged in Vietnamese. Erick, Notre Dame Cathedral - TripAdvisor.

What an interesting historical site and must see for anyone visiting the area. Gives great insight into the way the Viet Cong lived during the Vietnamese war and the methods/tactics they undertook as part of their guerrilla warfare. With exhibitions on everyday life and examples of how people lived and worked in the warren of tunnels without being discovered, as well as the tactics taken to booby trap areas. There is also the opportunity to walk/crawl through a section of the tunnels, which illustrates just how hellish living here must have been. I only managed to make it so far before I started to feel claustrophobic, it is unfathomable that some people lived years of their lives in these conditions. Lauren, Cu Chi Tunnels - TripAdvisor.

We had heard about the floating market, but to go and see is a great way to get the feel of the real life people lead. Not just vendors selling their wares from the boats but also smaller boats were going from boat to boat selling breakfast, coffee etc to the vendors. It was a great experience to see how other people live their lives from day to day. Ami, Cai Be Floating Market - TripAdvisor.
