Personally I love wandering around these old colourful streets. It's not for the faint hearted; there's a lot of strange sights, sounds and smells, there is plenty of traffic to negotiate and there are few rules to crossing the busy roads, plus pavements are full with families eating and scooters everywhere, so sometimes you are stepping into the road. But if you like a city adventure ... this is a really good one. And don't forget your camera. Michael, Old Quarter - TripAdvisor.

The island is indeed one of the prettiest places in Vietnam and the most visited one as well. The stillness of the blue water, the beautiful sight of the surrounding islands and the nature of environments are incredible. The gorgeous weather when we were here all adds up to make this place quite the magical. It is amazing to witness how over the centuries this island has been naturally processed into something so fantastic. Kayaking is one of the best ways to explore Ha Long Bay. Worth visiting, its like your are in a different planet. Astonishing views on every corner. I assumed this is the most beautiful place on the world! That is why it recognizes as UNESCO Heritage Records. Francis, Halong Bay - TripAdvisor.

Hoi An old town or Hoi An ancient town as it is sometimes called is a wonderful place to visit while in Vietnam. There are great restaurants and the shopping is quirky - though there are the usual tourist shops. The ancient architecture is magnificent and it's worth taking a lantern boat out onto the water - though barter to get the price down because they will ask for at least double what they'll accept. Great places to eat and a real vibe about the place with a mix of locals and international tourists. John, UK - TripAdvisor.

This is an incredible site; while some of the key buildings were bombed by the americans during the war, there are still many standing buildings that are amazingly well restored and that tell the story of the many kings and royal family members that lived here. The grounds are extensive and there are various different gardens and ponds with beautiful vegetation. This place is best explored with a guide who can tell you about the history and the relationship between the different buildings. Adele, Hue Imperial Citadel - TripAdvisor.
